"The tie is anything but ordinary and perfect for business people who are just tired of the ordinary routine of the day!"

About Knot Theory

We are what we wear, and Knot Theory is a movement for all the boundary-pushing, creative minds around the world.

Knot Theory (@knotheory) was founded to fearlessly initiate innovations. We are a young company driven to be the best at what we do. Our vision is to challenge fashion to capture attention, spark curious conversations, and never stagnate. So at Knot Theory, we spent 11 months re-engineering the conventional ties and experimenting new ideas. Now for the first time in almost a century of tie history, we are free to create badass neckties that make statements.

Welcome to the new era of ties.

About the Designer

Tanya Huang (@tanya_huang) was born in Taiwan and assembled in Canada. Raised as a Renaissance kid, she has won numerous awards and medals in the fields of visual arts, athletics, and academics. Following one of her passions, Tanya became a software engineer, during which time she designed as a hobby and studied couture techniques. Six years later, Tanya turned her full focus to fashion. She learned from and tapped into the talents of experts in textiles, tailoring, and pattern-making. After one year of rigorous research, development, and product innovation, she launched the bold necktie label - Knot Theory - for urban men and women wanting something unconventional yet undeniably classy.

Her philosophy? Forget stereotypes, be your boldest self, and exceed expectations.

Logo Origin

The Knot Theory logo is based on an ancient symbol, the infinite knot, also known as the endless knot. Among many meanings, it represents the interplay between the opposing forces in the dualistic world. We say it with our black and white ties ;)

Press & Reach

Knot Theory currently sells in stores across Canada and online to 18 countries worldwide. In April 2012, designer Tanya Huang pitched Knot Theory to the dragons on Dragons' Den, enticing ALL FIVE dragons to make her offers! Despite dramatically winning the dragons over, the show decided to make it a web-exclusive and the final cut only showed 3 dragons say Yes. You can watch the segment here.
